A Year to Remember: Highlights from Rotaract Club Scheveningen

A Year to Remember: Highlights from Rotaract Club Scheveningen

2024 has been nothing short of inspiring and eventful for Rotaract Club Scheveningen. True to the spirit of Rotary, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making a positive impact on our community and beyond. From our ongoing mission to tackle the global issue of plastic soup to heartwarming local initiatives, every effort this year has been driven by our shared commitment to “Service Above Self.”

Our year began with ambitious projects aimed at addressing environmental concerns. Whether it was participating in beach clean-ups or spreading awareness about sustainable practices, we stood united in our fight against plastic pollution.

On the community front, we turned compassion into action. From collecting and distributing gifts for those in need to bringing festive cheer during Sinterklaas celebrations, we’ve worked tirelessly to make sure no one feels left behind. After all, there’s no better way to embody the holiday spirit than by giving back.

To cap off this remarkable year, we came together to celebrate our accomplishments over a joyful dinner—sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of good food (because what’s service without a little indulgence?).

As we close 2024, we’re already gearing up for what’s ahead. With 2025 on the horizon, we’re more motivated than ever to continue serving our community, growing as leaders, and having a bit of fun along the way.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming projects and events—because at Rotaract Club Scheveningen, we’re just getting started!

🌟 Meet Bertrand U. Manegabe: Champion of Integration and Community Service! 🌟

Here is what he has to say –

Hello, social media family! I’m Bertrand U. Manegabe. By day, I’m a project coordinator working tirelessly across municipalities in South Holland, helping newcomers integrate into Dutch society and the professional world. Alongside this, I’m pursuing my MSc in Development Studies and Political Governance at Wageningen University & Research. 🌍✨

In my free time, I cherish moments with friends over a basketball game or a gym session. My love for walking around the city, observing people, and enjoying the natural surroundings fuels my passion for ethnography—a qualitative research method in social. 🏀🌳

At Rotaract Scheveningen, I’m currently an unofficial member of the communication committee. Balancing my time between Wageningen and my responsibilities keeps me in the background for now.

What drives me to be part of Rotaract? It’s the opportunity to serve others and belong to a community dedicated to the well-being of everyone. Rotaract and Rotary Club members share a profound commitment to making a positive impact, embodying values of service, integrity, and fellowship. We unite to tackle critical issues like poverty, education, and health, promoting peace and understanding among diverse communities.

My favorite Rotary focus areas? Community and economic development, as well as peace-building and conflict prevention. I’m passionate about creating sustainable opportunities that empower communities and foster economic growth. Additionally, I’m dedicated to promoting peace and preventing conflicts by addressing underlying issues and facilitating dialogue.

To those considering volunteerism: Join us, start small, grow your network, and become part of a vibrant community. I promise you’ll gain more than you give—it’s worth every moment. Rotaract and Rotary are filled with amazing people, ready to make a difference and build lasting connections.

Whether it’s gifting children, cooking for the homeless, playing games with the elderly, working with animals, painting walls, or doing beach cleanups—there’s something for everyone! 🌟
