Rotary Girl Empowerment Program: Period Kit Giveaway

Rotary Girl Empowerment Program: Period Kit Giveaway

As part of our ongoing discussions on gender equality and equity, we recognized how the high cost of period supplies can be a barrier, preventing individuals from fully participating in society. Inspired to make a local impact, we raised โ‚ฌ300 through generous donations, both big and small. We used it to purchase a cabinet and fill it with essential period products.

On March 29th, we held a small but meaningful giveaway event, donating the cabinet and supplies to a local organization in Schilderswijk, The Hague, that has been supporting women for over 25 years. The cabinet is now placed discreetly so that women can access free period products whenever they need them, without stigma and barriers.

This initiative is part of the Rotary Girl Empowerment Program. It reminds us that small acts of kindness and local action can go a long way. Period products are expensive, but together, we can make them more accessible. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Youโ€™ve made a real difference!

๐ŸŒŸ Meet Ilya “Admiral”: Our Outgoing President, Leading with Heart and Vision! ๐ŸŒŸ

Here is what he has to say –

Hello, social media fam! I’m Ilya “Admiral,” dedicated to making a difference through my work in the NGO field. ๐ŸŒโœจ

In my daily life, I channel my energy and passion into various non-governmental organization projects, striving to create meaningful change and support communities in need.

As the President of Rotaract Scheveningen from 2018 to 2024, I’ve had the honor of leading our club through numerous initiatives. Together, we’ve completed over 50 local projects and over 20 international ones, secured 2 district grants, and 2 global grants. Itโ€™s been an incredible journey of service, leadership, and community building.

What motivates me within Rotaract? It’s simple: I love helping people. I believe in the inherent goodness of humanity, and sometimes all it takes is a little help to bring out the best in everyone. Rotaract provides an excellent platform for making a real difference, connecting like-minded individuals who are driven by the same passion for service.

My favorite Rotary focus area? The environment. It’s a cause that transcends all areas of focus, impacting every aspect of our lives. By protecting and preserving our environment, we contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for all.

To anyone considering volunteerism: Come and join us! Start small, grow your network, and become part of our vibrant community. Volunteering offers immense rewards, not just for those we help, but for ourselves as well. You’ll meet amazing people, make lifelong friends, and experience the joy of making a positive impact.

At Rotaract, you can engage in diverse activitiesโ€”giving gifts to children, cooking for the homeless, playing games with the elderly, working with animals, painting walls, or doing beach cleanups. There’s something for everyone!

During my time as president, my goal was to ensure our club became well-known within the community. Now, as I step back, I am confident that Rotaract Scheveningen will continue to thrive and support organizations in need.

City Farm Weekend

Last Saturday, Rotaract Scheveningen volunteers went to help at the local city farm, Stadsboerderij Molenweide. ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ

We helped clean the farm and prepare for the sheep shearing party last week. Even though it was a day of hard work, we enjoyed being there and helping the animals have a nice place. And of course, said hello to the animals. For sure youโ€™re going to see us at the farm again!
