June 5 is celebrated every year as the World Environment Day, engaging governments, businesses and citizens in an effort to address pressing environmental issues. This World Environment Day will kick off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global mission to revive billions of hectares, from forests to farmlands, from the top of mountains to the depth of the sea.
We are losing and destroying the foundations of our survival at an alarming rate. Every three seconds, the world loses enough forest to cover a football pitch and over the last century we have destroyed half of our wetlands.

On the occasion of World Environment Day and End Plastic Soup Action Day, members of Rotaract Scheveningen also contributed. We took part in a beach clean-up campaign to clear the shores of Scheveningen beach. It was a nice day for us to clean the beach, enjoy a coffee and meet in person while maintaining the necessary social distance.

Op 29 mei hebben leden van onze club samen met leden van Rotary Scheveningen deelgenomen aan de door Schappelijk georganiseerde inzamelingsactie. De Sociale Winkel Schappelijk biedt extra hulp aan de inwoners van Scheveningen, die zich in een netelige financiële situatie bevinden. Daarom krijgen mensen die …
On 29th of May, members of our club took part together with members of Rotary Scheveningen in the fundraiser organized by Schappelijk.
The Social Shop Schappelijk offers extra help for the residents of Scheveningen, who find themselves in a delicate financial situation. Therefore, people who have insufficient income for meeting the basic needs and who appeal to the Food Bank in the Netherlands, receive a weekly food package as a help. However, Schappelijk does something extra and offers the possibility for these people to actually choose for themselves, what they want to ‘buy’.
Members of Rotaract Scheveningen, Rotary Scheveningen and Schappelijk were placed at three different supermarkets in Scheveningen. Throughout the day, with the help of residents, no less than 200 crates of non-perishable products were collected and donated!

During April and May our club have been visiting children’s community centre “De Kroko Kinderclub”, located in one of the remote neighborhoods of the Hague. Bi-weekly this centre welcomes children from different backgrounds to have access to creative and sport activities. Together with the kids …
